Attorney William A. Shaheen, Jr. practices in the areas of probate and estate planning, commercial transactions, and business law, including entity formations. He is a member and past president of the Flint Estate Planning Council, as well as a member of the Taxation, Business Law, Probate and Estate Planning, and Real Property Law Sections of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Genesee County Bar Association.
William, a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and recipient of Master of Laws in Taxation from Wayne State University (with an emphasis upon both Estate Planning and Business Transaction matters), is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and related topics, including buy-and-sell agreements and entity formations, such as limited liability companies and corporations, including small and medium sized businesses. He has consulted with attorneys seeking assistance in business transactions and estate planning matters.
William serves as a partner-member of the Institute for Continuing Legal Education in Ann Arbor, Michigan (“ICLE”) and serves on its Business Law Advisory Board and is a contributor to ICLE publications, including “Michigan Business Formbook” (a publication used by attorneys as a source for legal forms) and “Advising Closely Held Businesses in Michigan” and author of ICLE's “How-To Kit: Transfer a Liquor License.”
William has, each year, received a Certificate of Completion of The Probate and Estate Planning Program, issued by ICLE which Program is Co-sponsored by the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan (of which he has been a continuous member for several years).
William has drafted Estate Planning Documents, including Wills, Revocable Trusts and Irrevocable Trusts, Financial Powers of Attorney for Financial Matters and Health Care Powers of Attorney with end of life directives and has been active in overseeing the settlement of Trusts and Estates.
